    I am extremely impressed with your videos. I'm more of a fitness rower with about 25 years of experience using Concept2 rowers in gyms, and recently purchased and using a NordicTrack RW900 rower at home. Frankly. all the other rowing coaches and trainers on RUclips are good and pretty motivational. But they seem to provide training based on their personal experience as competitors. The iFIT rowing workout trainers seem similar. IN CONTRAST, you seem to include the most exercise-/science-based information and I find it the most useful. I've now watched nearly all of your videos and used them while I do some of my fitness rowing workouts. I've subscribed to your up for your email newsletter. GOOD WORK!!! Hi Dear, I hope you are doing well. I am a RUclips video SEO expert. I was analyzing your RUclips channel. I am really impressed by your videos, but your RUclips channel has some issues. You have made many videos, but your RUclips channel is not getting as many views and subscribers as expected. Because you have no complete SEO for any videos, no channel tags, and no video tags, if you SEO your videos, your subscribers and views will increase, and your channel will grow. Your video quality is very good, but the channel is not increasing due to not doing video SEO. By doing video SEO, the channel grows faster. I can help you if you want.

    I’ve been rowing on the Concept 2 for a few years at this point, and I find the force curve to be a very useful tool to display the quality of my rowing strokes in realtime. I personally leave this display up on all of my rows, and spy on it often to make sure I’m getting the most out of my strokes (be them light or hard). Anyway, I really enjoyed this video… thank you for posting all of the good info on this essential tool! 👍👍

      @@Neil_Bergenroth_Rowing_Coach I have the same issue with my new machine (as a newbie) -- the curve is very flat and I end up with 3500 meters when I do 20 minute beginner workout videos and the coach is saying 5000 meters even though I am matching their stroke rate. Does this mean I'm just not pulling hard enough with legs/hands? I have the tension at 4 FYI.

    • @Neil_Bergenroth_Rowing_Coach
      @Neil_Bergenroth_Rowing_Coach 7 месяцев назад

      @@Froggywentcourtin It most likely means you are not connecting on the drive with using your bodyweight and pushing and prying with your biomechanics effectively. If you are well connected, and your acceleration is continuous you will see a haystack on your force curve. You should seek out some coaching to help your fix your application and biomechanics so that you can use your bodyweight effectively to create more power. It's hard to do a full assessment without seeing video of you stroke mechanics and application. Hope this helps to some degree.

My advice would be to the technique right first without worrying too much about speed and such. With better technique relaxation, fitness and speed will surely follow. Enjoy the process!

    Does the rowing community believe that the best VO2max adapatation occurs by accumulating training time at or above 90% of Heart Rate Reserve? This is kind of a VO2max workout but your title implies it is a 2nd Lactate Threshold workout, which I find very interesting. It's clearly supra-threshold work. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on that.

    This is interesting. We can play with all this to learn things. Instead of putting the drag factor up for your low rate piece, drop it. If you have been using some arbitrary number such as 120, try dropping it right the way down to whatever you get with the fan closed. And then we can play with the stroke itself to learn things. How do you get good power with a low drag factor? You will need a fast drive. You will need to listen to the fan. You will need a slow recovery. Sllower than what you will be used to. You may have to pause in the finish and/or catch position if your recovery was not slow enough. Your stroke rate may need to be lower than 20. Experiment and play with it. Don't expect to learn everything in one session. What can you learn from starting from that and putting up the drag factor? At some point the relative time you allocate to the parts of the stroke has to change. This is more obvious when lowering the drag factor than when raising it. You still want to retain the fast drive even though you will find at higher drag factors that you can generate speed with a slower drive. Why? (This is more relevant if you do on the water rowing) You can find a/the point at which your drive slows down through experimentation. Higher spm requires a certain minimum drag factor. The fan has to slow enough for you to have something to catch. It's all fine to read and have a general understanding of all that, but it is much better to have an experiential understanding of it all. So go play and experiment.
